UBUD, INDONESIA

So, the trip here was a long and rather irritating journey. 7:30 I was picked up by the transport that was going to take me to the pier. 30 minutes in a packed minibus, then we changed to what they said a bigger bus and then drove maybe 2h. When we arrived I had maybe 1.5-2h until the boat was supposed to leave. Perfekt. I watched the last episode of GoT ๐Ÿ™‚ After 1.5h I went to the place I needed to be and waited. The boat was late. The boat ride was fine for me, but I saw some people that was really seasick. The boat took a little more than 2h. When I arrive I met a guy that worked for those that were supposed to drive me to Udbud. He told me that the drive could take up to 4-5h because there were a lot of stops on the way and Udbud was the last stop. They recommended that I should take a taxi there and maybe pay about 200kr. I said I donโ€™t care about the time and I will go with the transport that was included (which I already paid for!). I maybe waited 40 minutes before I was in the bus. When I asked the other travellers where they were going they told me Udbud. So there were no stops on the way and that guy before was trying to trick me! After more than 1h waiting we were on our way! Took maybe 2h? Then I needed to take a taxi from centrum to the hostel. I went on a bike and got it for cheaper ๐Ÿ™‚ Tired I went to my bed where I met a girl from UK. We decided to go with a taxi and see the different โ€must seeโ€ the next day and also do a hike up the mountain Batur to see the sunrise.

We started our day at 9:30 and the taxi driver came and picked us up. First stop was the waterfall Tegenungan. After this we went to the Elephant cave. This place was so much more than a cave (which surprised us). The garden around was super nice and we just walked around and felt the nice atmosphere and looked at all the nice flowers ๐Ÿ™‚ The third and last stop was the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. This place was huge and we walked around and looked at the awesome scenery. One funny thing that hit me was that I just realised that I had no idea how the process of rice works, do you? ^^ Now I know btw. Looked it up when we ate our lunch looking over the view of the terraces. When we came back to town, we decided to go on an Indonesian dance performance on the evening. We also booked the Mount Batur hike.

At 2:00 we got picked up and driven to the place we were supposed to have our first breakfast. Pancake with bananas and what I think was chocolate. After this we got driven to the starting point of our hike. Around 2h hiking uphill in the dark until we got to the top. I think we got one of the better places ๐Ÿ™‚ Here we sat and waited for the sun to go up. During that time we got our second breakfast which was banana sandwich and an egg. It was quite cold but the cold and effort was worth it when we saw the sunrise! After the sunrise it was time to go down. The higher the sun went the warmer it got.

When we came down and left the mountain, my UK friend and I decided to directly go to the monkey forest. This forest is a sanctuary for monkeys. They can come and go as they please ๐Ÿ™‚ Super cute monkeys were playing with each other, grooming each other or just casually sitting somewhere and philosophied ^^ After this we walked to a vegetarian place and ate lunch. Then we walked back to our hostel. Our legs were so wobbly and our feet were sore. A taxi driver drove me to the airport and this was when I realised I havenโ€™t slept for 30h. Was super tired and it felt like I had a hungover. After some irritating moments I was on the plane, on my way to my next destination, Malaysia!
