KENDE, MALAWI
Today we went up early to see the the sunrise, but sadly woke up to a big rain cloud that covered the sun, so no real sunrise for us β we were up at 5.. x) But we sat down anyway and got accompanied with tree dogs, it was cozy π
Breakfast at 7, after that we did some laundry and at 9 it was time to do the village tour. It started with people from the village greeted us as we came out from the camp. We knew that their intentions were selling, but I took the opportunity to bond with the locals. I was talking to two guys, a little younger than me (27) and both of them was hoping to work within IT some day. I had a very good conversation with them and I learned a lot! I hope I learned them something too ^^ The tour guide gave us very good information, also the principle of the school and a local medical.
In the beginning of the tour we where greeted by some local kids running to us and wanted to hold our hands while we were walking the tour. They were super cute! I had two girls, one maybe around six and one a little older. They didnβt speak much English but they were happy to just walk with me ^^ The younger girl was fascinated with my skin and tried to look closer on my arm β very cute. Another thing that they were interested in was my fan that I used. They seemed never to have used/seen one, and when I showed on the little girl she looked at me as I was crazy, but later on the tour she really liked it and wanted more ^^ They also picked some flowers and made a mini bouquet and put it behind my ear β€οΈ
This day was so warm and we all felt like we were melting β it was insane π₯΅ We were, dripping literally. It was not better wen the girls holding my hands.. π The older girl said something to her friend and showed her hand. It was like she just washed her hand β super sweaty π One time we stopped for a while in the shadows and when we started to take pictures a lot of kids wanted to join!
When we were heading back to the camp we needed to say goodbye to the kids. The youngest girl ran some steps, turned and ran back and hugged me. The older girl also came and hugged me, and ran away. The younger one didnβt let go, I carried her a bit and some of the other kids laughed a little. She was super cute ^^ It was only when the tour guide said something she ran away with the others. On the road back the two guys that I talked with walked with me back. Of course they wanted to sell something, but we talked like friends β So it was a win for me ^^ I even said βSorry, it was not well invested time for youβ. We ended up in a game of Bao instead (witch I won) π
After this we were so sweaty that we wanted to just jump into the water, so a quick lunch and off we went to the lake. The lake was not warm nor was it cold, but the feeling was AMAZING π I donβt know how long we were in the water but it was for a long time. Enough to get a little colour in our face and on the shoulders π After this we decided to relax in the shadow for a while.
As we sat in some sofas we met some Malawi (I think) guys wanting to play pool and small talk. When they heard we were from Sweden I guy said βAAH Zlatan!β, it was then I realised he had a Manchester United t-shirt and the others also had some football shirts. I tried to hit them with the small Zlatan knowledge I had and they seemed to be real Zlatan fans ^^
In the afternoon there was a possibility to go on a snorkling tour but I felt like it was unnecessary money because the island there the snorkelling was, was very close. I felt like we could just get a canoe there and snorkel ourselves. We were four that decided to do that but when the time came the other couple wanted to lay in the sofas instead. Instead of taking the boat we decided to swim there. It was a good exercise, especially on the way there when we swam against the waves. We were very tired when we arrived, so we sat down for a while and explored the small island. The snorkelling was nice, not much fish only small and cute once but the visibility was great. So we snorkelled around a little bit and then headed back to the beach. All and all a good exercise with some nice snorkel.
