DAY 8 – MASAI MARA TO LAKE NAIVASHA

Today we woke up early and left our lodge at 7. We took a shortcut trough Masai Mara to get through another gate. On the way we saw some animals waking up as the sun went up. When we arrived to the Lake Naivasha we left our jeep in order to get to the boat trip. While at the boat we realised that the boat didn’t have any shade and the time was around 13:00 which is the time the sun is most dangerous. Desperately I tried to cover every bit of skin with something. I had my scarf for my shoulders, the cap for the face and the bag in my lap to try to cover as much as possible. The locals must think I looked ridiculous 😂

During the trip we saw hippos and a lot of different birds. A nice change from all the other cool animals we seen so far. Our local guide tried to let us see how the African Fish Eagle hunt, but every time he threw a fish the eagles didn’t care, seemed like other tourist been before us 😅

When the boat tour was over and we arrived to our lodge (around 14:30) we had the rest of the day at our leisure. We ate lunch, walked around the perimeter, took a massage and swam in the pool. Sometimes it is nice just to have a relaxing day, especially when your days usually are very busy. On the evening we took drinks in our room and when we wanted to go for dinner we needed to get an escort because the hippos was just outside the room 😅
