DAY 10 – AMBOSELI TO TSAVO WEST

Today we woke up at 5:15 and was at the Amboseli Park when they opened. The plan was to do a morning game drive before we headed to Tsavo West. At this time the sun was going up and the animals started to wake up (or go to bed if they are nocturnal). Funny enough, but we also saw our new friend from yesterday in a passing car. 🙃

When we left the park we got a hitchhiker that traveled with us for about 20 km. Continuing to the Mzima Springs we saw some animals and when we arrived we were greeted by a man that escorted us around a track and gave information about the place. The water comes from Kilamanjaro and had a little sweeter taste. Around the springs we saw crocodiles, hippos and a lot of birds and fish.

When we arrived to our lodge, we got a big welcome. And I mean BIG, because there was a big herd of elephants just outside the terrace. When we got our room we realised that we got one of the best views 🤠🐘😎

On the afternoon it was time to move again, this time to the Rhino sanctuary. This place only have black rhinos and they are very shy, so they are not very easy to see. So we drove around for a while, seeing giraffes, elephants and other small animals. We stopped by a common waterhole in hope for them to come out and drink. Just as we have left we got a call saying that they have come, so we turned around and got to see one little confused black rhino.

After the short stop to see the rhino, it was pedal to the metal to try to come home to see the leopard that usually comes to the lodge at 18:30 🐆

While we were waiting for the leopard we took a drink and quite soon after it popped up by the trees. The lodge had hung a piece of meat that it munched away on. When it was almost done you could see a hyena lurking in the bushes. It followed the leopard but when it turned around the hyena casual turned and walked away 😆
