TIME TO GO HOME 🙂

When you been up at around 5 every morning during two weeks, it is quite nice to just lay in the bed. But around 8:30 we decided to go up, take a shower, pack our things and check out. Because our flight went at 19:40 we had some time to check out Johannesburg.

The thing is though, this city is not very safe and you don’t want to do a walk about by yourself. I even asked the receptionist if it was unsafe and without any hesitation she said ”yes, it is not safe here”. But if you know where to go and go when it is daylight (and walk in bigger numbers) it is OK. Because of this, we wanted to do some kind of tour and decided for a bike tour. We realised though that we won’t have any shower after and we were not very keen on being sweaty on the flight home, so we decided not to go 😅 Instead we decided to go to Nelson Mandela Square to spend our last hours in the shopping mall.

When we were at the airport we checked in our bags as usual, but when we got our boarding passes we saw that we weren’t together, quite far from each other actually. When we asked why we weren’t seated together they told us that they were fully booked. We told them that that shouldn’t matter because we booked together. They repeatedly said ”we are fully booked and there are nothing we could do”. We were very early with the check in but they said that all the seats are booked – even though there were a lot of people behind us. When we told them again that we booked together they said that the system can only register every person separately and that’s why (because they are full) they can’t put us together. We call bullsh*t on this one. What about all the children? Are they sitting by them self? They told us that if we wanted to sit together we could upgrade to business class for ~450€. Tobias thinks that they do this deliberately just to make people pay extra..

When I sat down on my seat I had one guy to my left sitting alone and asked if he would mind changing seats, and he said ”not at all” – super nice! So jokes on Lufthansa, we got seats together. And seeing a lot of single travellers, there was no reason splitting us up 😮

We are now at Frankfurt airport, waiting for our last flight to Göteborg. Mixed feelings, but it is always nice to come home from a longer trip 🙂
