NUKU’ALOFA, TONGA

So, the day started quite calm. I wanted to sleep a little longer and then I went to structure up my remaining week at Tonga. The woman in my dorm was working for Peace Corp, so she knew a guy that could join me around the main island and show me the good spots. So that was great! We decided that Saturday was the best day to go. Then I wanted to see if there was a possibility to do some diving so I decided to walk to the dive centre (and not booking it through a middle hand). I walked for around 45 minutes, but when I arrived everything was closed and I was not sure I found the right place. When I passed some boats, a guy from a boat asked me what I was looking for, and when I told him that I was searching for a dive centre he told me that they will be back around 14:30. He also said that there was another dive centre on the other side of the water (maybe 20-30 meters) but I needed to go around. But, he was going there too and were about to row over there with his boat, and he could take me there. So I jumped in his small small plastic boat and got to the other side 👍 ^^ He was apparently a dive instructor and a captain 😎

When I talked to the dive centre they had really good prices on diving (1270 sek for two tank in caves 😮) BUT because people are so focused on whale dives nobody books the dives and we need to be at least three 😕 I walked back to the hostel, with the company of my rowing friend.. x)

After that I went to the travel desk at the hostel and checked what to do. They told me about other islands I could go to over the day. So the plan is at least for now to go to Pangaimotu island on Sunday (when everything is dead and not opened). I also booked a Tongan Night Show which was the same day.

I also heard a lot of people talk about Eua, which is an island 1h away with the fast boat. Some said that it would be risky for me to go there (the boat home would not go back because of rain or similar), but I decided to risk it anyway! So I decided to stay one night and do a day tour to see as much as possible!

In the evening it was time to go to the dinner. I got picked up by a bus and not that long after we suddenly stopped and nobody understood anything. Suddenly we in the bus started to smell something and saw steam come out of the bus and filling the bus. We jumped out and changed to another bus. The ride was long and after a while I realised we where going to the other side of the island. When we arrived to the place we should eat we saw that it was all a big cave with the beach just outside of it. I got a seat near the stage and also three ”solo traveler table friends”. The food was a buffet and it was served on bambo plates. After the dinner it was time for the show. It was really nice! It was inside another cave! It ended with a big fire number.
