A F***ING SHITTY DAY..

My trip from Koh Rong couldn’t get worse… The evening before I heard from some people that a storm is coming and there has been boats that been cancelled. In the morning around 9:00 I went to the boats and asked if the boats go and she looked at me quite surprised and said of course. Oh, well. Everything was fine and I went to my hostel and packed my stuff and went to the pier 9:45. 10:00 was the speed boat suppose to come, but apparently because of the rain the boat was supposed to come at 11 instead. At 11 it was supposed to come at 12. Now it started to get tricky. I had booked a bus to Kampot at 12. They re-booked it to 13:30 and everything was fine (except for the waiting). At 12 they said nothing anymore and everyone was waiting.. Finally at 13:00 a boat comes, but this was a slow boat that takes over 2h – which I haven’t paid for. I wanted to go and ask them to re-book my ticket again but it was a long queue and I didn’t have time to do that. Just about when everyone are going on the boat the storm came with A LOT of rain. Just 10 sec notice.. So I just had the time to take my rain coat over my small bag while I was getting soaked. When I came on the boat I didn’t have a dry spot and I started to shiver. No space for me to sit (because I was one of the last ones) and no walls on the boat. I squeezed myself between some bags and started to try and get me warm, which didn’t work. I was so cold and in the end I fell asleep.

When we arrived they wanted to just get everyone out as fast as possible. I still tried to figure out how to save my passport and other important things. They also dropped a bag in the water. When I got of the boat I realise that it is not the right pier. I just started to walk and a tuk tuk driver asks me where I was going. I told him that I will take a bus to Kampot and he tells me that I need to go to the bus station. Two guys and I went into the tuk tuk. On the way I realised that I’m not going to the bus station and told him that I’m going to the pier wich is close to where the guys are going. When we came to the guys hostel he refused to take me two minutes further down the street and forced me to walk 5 minutes in the pouring rain. When I finally reached the destination they tell me that the desk is closed and I need to go to their office somewhere in the town. I asked them to call. They did and they told me the last bus is full. This ment that I needed to stay one night and take the bus in the morning. I am leaving the 17th so my time was tight as it was. I checked a hostel and they where fully booked. I felt that I really needed to leave because it was pouring rain and lightning. I needed to be in Phnom Pehn the 17th and I just felt ”f**k it, I’m going to Phnom Phen”. Still cold and wet I went on a night bus which were supposed to be in Phnom Pehn at 00:00. I was so cold and I wrapped myself in the blanket in order to get warm. After a while I notice that I was wet (more wet). Of course it leaked over my bed at two spots!!! Just a shitty shitty day…

When I arrived at Phnom Pehn I went to a hostel I booked and jumped in a warm shower. It was nice and I really needed it. Went to bed at 2:30 or later.

Now I’m here at the hostel. Haven’t planned to do anything today. Just lay here by the pool and maybe read. I will later go to a supermarket and buy a lot of sweets and see a movie on my phone. Tomorrow I will leave for Auckland  (and later to Papeete in French Polynesia). Think I will treat myself with a massage and many and pedicure tomorrow. 🙂

My lunch at the hostel 🙂
