HA’ATAFU BEACH, TONGA

Today we were supposed to be three girls going to Ha’atafu Beach but we ended up just going two persons. Taking a bus there is not very straightforward and our instructions were quite unclear. But we went to the bus stop with a handwritten note where we wanted to go ^^ We only waited for around 20 minutes before the right bus came. On the bus we met two other guys that were going to the beach too. Later we got dropped off and we started to walk the path to the beach. On our way we passed an old man that started to wave at us. We didn’t understand what he wanted but walked towards him. He then gave us loads of small bananas and smiled 🙂 (for free of course)

The beach was very nice and we spent most of the day there. Swimming and tanning -> repeat. The weather was very nice, sunny and warm! Also wanted to see some surfers there, but there were not that many there. I saw some at least ^^

Funny story, when we were laying there in the sun on our sarongs, I suddenly hear a ”Aaahh!”. I look upp and at the German girl which had started to laugh. Apparently there was some space on her sarong that was not occupied and the local dog seemed to think it was the perfect spot to share. The thing was that this dog was very stealthy and she didn’t know it was there until she opened her eyes and was greeted by two big eyes. Both of them got scared and later the dog just happily trotted around us and continued back to the nearby resort. Very cute dog though ^^

After the beach it was time to head back home. We were supposed to be by the main road by 15 to catch the bus back, but it was not a set time. We started to walk alongside the road and before the bus came (or at least supposed to come) we got a ride with some locals that was heading to the airport and could drop us off in town – super nice of them!

The day ended with pizza and a book before it was time to go to bed. Tomorrow I booked a taxi that will drive me around to the different stops before I get dropped of at the airport. Next stop will be Fiji again for 3 nights before it is time to go home 🙂
