GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA
When I came to George Town I met a girl from Spain. I asked what her plans were and we decided to spend our days in George Town together. A guy from Switzerland also joined. The first day we planned to just walk around and discover the city. We didn’t have any luck with the weather though, it was raining a lot. Some hours now and then the rain stoped and we could walk around without the umbrella 🙂
In the evening we decided to go to a night market, but a lot of stands were closed because of the rain and that made the market less impressive ^^ I bought some kind of thick pancake with peanuts and sweet corn. Looked interesting. Surprisingly tasty 🙂 Only 6kr! 😮
Next day we were supposed to rent scooters and drive around the island. Ended up going by taxi. Cheaper and more convenient. We started the day to do a hike to a place called Monkey Beach. And yes, monkeys were there! At one point I walked by myself and suddenly there was a monkey on the path. I stopped a looked it. Couldn’t pass it so I thought maybe I needed to go back. When I turned another monkey had come and sat behind me. I started to be confused and during this time monkeys from every corner came. I was surrounded! I couldn’t move. There must have been 10-15 monkeys. Didn’t know what to do. They were not aggressive but I didn’t want to press my luck and try to pass them. I knew that I shouldn’t look them in their eyes because that is a sign of aggressive behaviour. I put my sunglasses on for safety 😆 I stood there for a while. I started to think ”f**ck, what should I do??” After a while a group of Malaysian guys came and scared away some of the monkeys. Then we passed the monkeys together and at one point I used one of the guys as a shield 😆 All good. Nothing happened. ^^
After the hike we went to some tempels and ended the day at a food market. Took some drinks before I went. We got them for 20kr each. But we were not allowed to say that to other people ^^
Now I say goodbye Malaysia and hi (again) Thailand! Let’s do some diving before I go home 🙂
